The Train

A trip to the Maine coast is all about relaxing while the salty breeze lifts your spirits, so why don’t you park your car and begin your vacation! With a Maine Eastern Railroad mid-coast rail excursion, you can leave the car and the traffic behind and get onboard to carefree holiday fun with a unique way to experience the spectacular views of the Maine coast.

The Maine Eastern passenger fleet is comprised of restored streamlined stainless steel railcars from the Art Deco era of the 1940's and 1950's and recently fully rebuilt to today's standards of safety and comfort. Our 54- and 58-seat coaches are accompanied by a restored railway dining car that provides passengers with food & beverage served cafe style, and is the social setting for narrated discussion of the scenery and historic highlights of the 57-mile route.

From the comfort of your reserve parlor-class climate-controlled coach, you'll have a front row seat to some of Maine's most breathtaking seascapes from our expansive windows.

Reserve Class Amenities include: Parlor seating, large viewing windows, air conditioning and redeemable vouchers for food & bevereage.

Take the train in either direction from Rockland, Wiscasset, Bath or Brunswick. The train meanders along the craggy coast for two hours. Along the way, you'll spot charming seaside villages, sailboats tacking in the breeze, swooping gulls soaring overhead, and during the fall, trees that glow with a kaleidoscope of color. Have a glass of wine in our dining car and watch the beauty of Maine unfold before your eyes.

Whether you come for an hour or a week, with convenient, comfortable and classy transport on Maine Eastern Railroad, your mid-coast Maine experience will remain in your heart for a lifetime. All aboard!
