The Maine Eastern passenger fleet is comprised of streamlined locomotives and stainless steel railcars from the Art Deco era of the 1940s and 1950s. This equipment has been fully restored and rebuilt to today's standards of safety and comfort, and provides a perfect social setting for lively conversation about the scenery and historic highlights of the 56.6-mile route between Brunswick and Rockland, Maine.

Passengers from Portland, Boston, and other southern New England points who enjoy the allure of rail travel can reach Brunswick via Amtrak’s Downeaster.

Welcome aboard the Maine Eastern Railroad, and we hope you will enjoy your journey through Maine’s Mid-Coast!

About the Route

Beginning in Brunswick, 30 miles northeast of Portland, the line snakes along the waterfronts and Main Streets of the Mid-Coast, stopping in BathWiscasset, and Newcastle - Damariscotta before traveling through some of the most beautiful scenery of Maine's forests.  The rail line reaches the coast again in Rockland, a magnificent coastal town and popular tourist destination.
